Debreah is a Licensed Professional Counselor Intern under the supervision of Dr. Genna Vivona PhD, LPC-S, RPT. Debreah received her Bachelors of Science in Psychology from Texas A&M University Central Texas with a minor in Criminal Justice in August of 2014. Debreah received her Masters of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in May of 2017.
Debreah worked as a Correctional Officer for 6 years and retired from the Killeen Police Department in August of 2016 after nearly 15 years of service as a patrol officer and detective. On why Debreah went from Professional Police work into counseling, “I loved what I did and I loved helping people. I often miss the adrenaline rush of driving to those hot calls with my lights and sirens blaring, getting there and just doing my job. However, with all of the fun and excitement I also began to personally understand the toll that experiencing and witnessing so much human pain and suffering can have on first responders. I realized that as police officers we always had each others back, and we always put the public’s needs first. On the other hand, when it came to first responders recognizing their own emotional and psychological needs, there wasn’t enough being done. As I was winding down in my career I decided that I wanted to continue to serve and help people, especially those first responders that constantly put the needs of others ahead of their own. That is my passion now”.
Debreah’s counseling experience includes working in partial hospitalization programs and inpatient care treating children, adolescents and adults, with a focus on depression, anxiety and trauma related disorders, such as PTSD. Although she now calls Texas home, Debreah was born in Oakland, CA, and was a, “Military Brat”, giving her the opportunity to grow up in different parts of the world and experience several different cultures.
For fun, Debreah enjoys mountain biking, art and playing with her German Shepherds.Email Debreah
