Misty is a Licensed Professional Counselor. Misty was drawn to Tania Glenn & Associates by the compassion and unconditional positive regard the practice has for first responders, veterans, and their families. She joined the practice in the summer of 2020. Promoting resilience, healing, and helping people overcome obstacles is her heartbeat. She knows firsthand from her own life story that having support and self-determination are the keys to fulfillment.
Misty received her Bachelor’s of Social Work from Southwest Texas State University in 1995 and her Master’s of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lamar University in 2019. She has also met rigorous requirements for National Counselor Certification. She has additional training in various modalities of treatment ,Suicide Prevention, and Crisis Response.
She has worked with a range of populations throughout her professional career. Her first job out of SWTSU was with Child Protective Services doing casework. She has since worked in multiple settings with adults, including inpatient and intensive outpatient settings. Her counseling experience consists of individuals and couples. Recently she has provided crisis counseling and post-incident support following the Uvalde elementary school shooting, and the Hill Country Flood.
In addition to counseling, Misty teaches Peer Support Classes , Trauma & Resilience Classes for both first responders and their family members, and provides post-incident briefs as needed following critical incidents. Being there for people and meeting them where they are is her passion; whether it be adjusting to difficult life transitions, coping with stress, or resolving trauma.
Misty believes in enlisting a variety of techniques to guide her practice to help clients reach their goals and potential. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TFCBT), and Solution Focused Therapy (SFT) are methods she has found to be effective, evidence-based, and adaptable to most issues.
She loves new challenges and is always ready to team up with her clients to find solutions together.
